What types of Lessons are offered?

The instructor offers private, one-on-one lessons at the Studio, or online using Skype. Group lessons are available for select courses.

All students need to have access to an instrument they can practice during the week. They are encouraged to keep a written log or journal for their practice times during the week because it helps organize the practice session and can be used to help evaluate the student’s progress.

Tuition for the full month’s lessons is due at the first lesson of each month. The only “extra” cost to students is purchasing the primary instruction book used in the lessons. Students can purchase the book from the instructor or obtain it on their own. It is highly recommended that each student obtain a music stand for practicing, and students eventually will need to purchase their own tuner or pitch pipe.

*Students may also need to purchase other supplies and services, such as music, string changes, or repairs.

The studio policy takes into consideration that sometimes a student will miss a scheduled lesson. The studio policy terms ask for a 24 hour advance notice when cancelling lessons, and provides make-up lessons under certain conditions.

Each student will receive one thirty minute lesson time that will recur on a prearranged day and time. The student will choose a day and time from the list of available lesson times.

Excellent question! Lessons are conducted at the Studio, which is located in the National Transit Building Annex in downtown Oil City. (See address at the top banner of this website.) Skype lessons are conducted online, so lessons can take place anywhere there is access to the Internet.

The Studio Policy is the agreement signed by the student and instructor that spells out all the details regarding lessons, Tuition payment, cancellations, and other terms. This Policy ensures that students understand what they are getting when they sign up for lessons and how the studio is run. The Studio Policy also dictates the fee schedule and terms for payment.

*The Studio Policy requires a 2-week advance notice of ALL terminations.*

If you have simply cancelled the lesson for that day, you will simply pay the Tuition the following week. Tuition will have a late fee applied unless you submit Tuition on time.

If you have terminated lessons as agreed (with prior notice), you will owe nothing.

If you terminate lessons without notice, you will still be liable to pay that month's tuition (as stated in the Studio Policy) and if payment is not received you will receive a bill for that month's Tuition. Late fees will accrue indefinitely, so please make arrangements to stay current with your Tuition.
